Amazon is set to install solar panels at its fulfillment centers across the UK

Over the next 18 months, Amazon plans to install rooftop solar panel systems on 10 of its UK fulfillment centers. The panels will have a total installed capacity of 20 MW, which could produce around 20 GWh annually given an average capacity factor of 10% [1]. The panels will be able to power the equivalent of 4,500 homes and will reduce the firm's carbon footprint by 6,000 tonnes of CO2 per year. This is part of Amazon’s plan to erect solar systems on 50 of its centers around the world by 2020.

Amazon has also signed a deal that will provide its UK buildings with 100% renewable electricity. The electricity will be backed by Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin (REGOs).
