Biomethane GO index

The index is essentially a composite of the latest trades and bid/ask prices from subsidised markets (UK, DK and NL), with January 2021 being the reference point (100).

The Greenfact Biomethane Index rose to 275 in November, a similar increase to the previous month. EU Waste (both sustainability certified and non-certified) saw modest gains, while in the UK both Crop and Waste RGGOs experienced price increases.

Price quotations were flat to end the month, which would suggest December may see limited price increases. However, similar trends were observed at the end of October, followed by a sizeable step increase to start November. There is an expectation that similar steady gains will be made to end the year.

Similar to last month, activity with our data partners was muted, with under 50 GWh recorded, a mixture of uncertified waste (EU) as well as UK crop.
